The Lipscomb family in Bradenton returned to Gilbert Design Build for their third project—a kitchen and flooring remodel.

The outdated kitchen lacked functionality, and an unused desk area served no purpose. Their goals were clear: create a more user-friendly space, modernize the look, and enhance their day-to-day experience.

By transforming the desk area into a stylish bar with a wine cooler and glass cabinetry, and updating the flooring throughout the main living spaces, the remodel delivered exactly what they needed. The Magic Is in the Details

• Cabinetry: To achieve a clean, transitional design, Showplace EVO Cabinetry was chosen for its full-access style. The lower cabinets in rich Cherry Chestnut bring warmth, while the uppers and tall pantry in Heron Plume offer a light, airy contrast. 
• Custom Storage Features: Soft-close drawers, clear glass cabinetry, and pull-out accessories, like a double waste bin and roll-out pantry shelves, add function and elegance.
• Countertops: The countertops feature Cambria Quartz in Brittanicca Warm, with a 3cm thickness and a polished edge profile, creating a striking focal point.
• Backsplash: For the backsplash, the client fell in love with Tilebar Blue Azure Glossy tiles—originally planned in a subway pattern but later installed in a chic chevron layout.
• Finishing Touches: A Moen Arbor faucet in Spot Resist Stainless and a Blanco Silgranit double basin sink in a Truffle finish blend durability with style.
• Flooring: Throughout the family room, kitchen, living room, and dining room, the new Mannington Adura Max LVP flooring in Maidens Veil adds a cohesive, modern touch.
• Paint: Fresh Sherwin Williams paint in tones like Egret White and Pearly White completed the transformation.

There's No Such Thing As "Impossible"

As with any remodel, challenges can arise, but the Gilbert Design Build team delivered solutions every step of the way.

One unique hurdle was the client’s request for an outlet in a specific spot. With a pocket door behind the wall, our team had to pivot. We collaborated with the homeowners to come up with an alternative location that would still deliver the same function. By adding the outlet to the side of the cabinetry, functionality was achieved!

Additionally, when some materials didn’t arrive as expected, Gilbert Design Build worked diligently to reorder and keep the project on track. This commitment to “making things right” ensured the Lipscombs never felt the burden of delays.

The star of the show? The transformed bar area with glass cabinetry and a wine cooler, replacing the unused desk space is a game-changer for effortless entertaining. It faces the family room, making it an inviting hub for guests.

The roll-out pantry shelves and soft-close accessories bring ease and organization to their everyday routines, while the chevron tile backsplash became a showstopper—a last-minute design change that paid off beautifully.
